As the three suns of the planet Batuu rise each morning this week, some very special visitors will be welcomed to Black Spire Outpost.
More than 140 Wish families staying at the nearby Give Kids the World Village—a nonprofit resort that provides weeklong, cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening medical conditions and their families—will have the opportunity to explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during special community previews of the new land happening throughout the week.
Disney has supported the nonprofit resort since it opened its doors back in 1986, and we are honored to be a place where so many of these children’s wishes come true. In fact, more than 8,000 Disney-themed wishes are granted each year at Walt Disney World Resort, continuing our legacy as the top-requested Wish destination among children and their families.
“One moment of magic can make a world of a difference for Wish children and their families,” said Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs for Walt Disney World Resort. “We are honored to help these families create treasured, lifelong memories, especially in a land like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where they can become the heroes of their own Star Wars stories.”
The exciting news was shared with families during a celebration at Give Kids the World Village, where they were given the perfect accessories to prepare for their journey to Batuu. With an entire galaxy full of adventure at their fingertips, these special previews will create lasting memories for Wish families visiting Walt Disney World Resort.
These special visits to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge continue a series of community previews to the new land, which began when more than 1,000 students from Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida visited for their own imaginative and memory-building experience.
