Pack your bags and get ready to eat some beignets! Starting in February, the Disney Wonder will sail Caribbean and Bahamian cruises from our new home port in New Orleans. Before or after your Disney cruise, you and your family can venture around the city and indulge in New Orleans cuisine, dance to the sweet melodies of world-renowned jazz music and see the iconic sights and sounds that inspired the beloved animated film “The Princess and the Frog.”
There’s plenty to do before and after your cruise in New Orleans! Here’s how you can make the most of a Disney cruise from New Orleans.
1. Immerse yourself in the world that inspired “The Princess and the Frog.” In New Orleans, you can see the iconic architecture, taste the food and hear all of the beautiful sounds that inspired the movie. You and your family will continue the fun on board at Tiana’s Place restaurant where you’ll enjoy southern-style cooking and jazz music. Tiana’s Place has a menu that draws inspiration from the flavors and ingredients of the Louisiana bayou and live music that sets a French Quarter supper club atmosphere. To enjoy even more live music before or after dinner, visit the French Quarter Lounge coming to the Disney Wonder this fall!
2. Eat your way through New Orleans! New Orleans has around 1,500 restaurants to choose from and is considered one of the finest cities in the world for culinary exploration. You and your family can shop, listen to live music, or eat at the various food stands and restaurants in the French Market. You can also sit at Café du Monde and take in the sights as you eat authentic beignets! Insider tip: Once onboard the Disney Wonder, be sure to order the delicious beignets at Tiana’s Place!
3. Experience the rich history and culture of New Orleans. Visit places like Jackson Square, New Orleans Jazz Museum or the French Market while you’re in New Orleans. You can also take a streetcar through the French Quarter and a river boat down the Mississippi River! Whether you want to experience New Orleans through the food, people or architecture, you and your family will find plenty to enjoy.
4. Continue the family fun aboard the Disney Wonder! Just remember the fun doesn’t stop in New Orleans. Your family can follow Anna and Elsa as they embark on a journey to discover the meaning of sisterhood in the live show “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular,” or your little ones can train with Spider-Man and Black Widow at the Marvel Super Hero Academy. If you’re looking for some relaxation time, visit the Senses Spa & Salon and take a break before you go on your next adventure!
