Disney World and Universal Orlando Update Mask Policies Again

From the Walt Disney World News and written by: Sean Sposato

It’s only been a week since we gave you the last update on the mask policies at both Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World. However, now it seems we’re back with even more updates! They’re not as drastic but they’re definitely still noteworthy.

The most recent change to the face mask policy at the four Walt Disney World parks was specific to cast members situated in outdoor positions who were given the option to go without face masks while outdoors. This week, it seems guests are now finally able to go without face masks when attending outdoor theaters, per Walt Disney World’s official website.

At Universal Orlando, we recently announced guests were no longer required to wear face masks both indoors and outdoors. Now, according to a new report by Click Orlando, beginning this past weekend, team members who were fully vaccinated no longer need to wear masks in outdoor or backstage settings on the theme park campus.

Currently, guests are still required to wear face masks at the Walt Disney World theme parks when entering outdoor queues and indoor attractions. However, while walking around the parks, guests are not required to wear masks. It’s not known when the theme park resort will officially stop requiring guests to wear theme parks while on property–similar to Universal Orlando resort.

Although, compared to the west coast, these rules are nowhere near as strict. Currently, if you’re visiting the Disneyland theme parks or Universal Hollywood, you’ll be required to wear a face mask until at least June 15 with some reports indicating this could continue until August, September or October. Specific dates are not yet known.

What are your thoughts on these new changes to the face mask policies at both Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World? Let us know in the comments!
