Beating The Summer Heat On Your Trip To Walt Disney World

From the Walt Disney World News and written by: Sarah Cooley

Hey Main Streeters!

Summer is in full swing and that means the weather in Orlando is HOT! It also happens to be the most convenient time for many people to visit to Walt Disney World.

If you are like me and have to travel for a Disney vacation, it is important to be prepared so you can make the most of the magic.

Here are my favorite tips to beat that Florida heat:

Wear light weight, comfy clothes.

-Layers are great for going in and out of air-conditioned buildings.

-Minnie ears are adorable, but sometimes you need the full coverage of a hat!

Wear sunscreen and sunglasses.

-The Florida sun can be brutal. Make sure to protect yourself, especially if you’re not used to it.

Drink your H2O.

-You can get cups of ice water from any quick service restaurant. Don’t wait until your thirsty to grab some.

Bring an umbrella.

-Not only will this come in handy for the inevitable mid-afternoon rain storm, but it also works to keep the sun from beating down on you while you’re waiting in an outdoor line for an attraction.

Take a personal fan.

-The extra air flow makes a huge difference.

Use a cooling towel.

-Bring your own or Disney sells them too.

Save some inside shows/attractions for the hottest part of the day.

-The break from the sun will feel so good!

Here are some to try:

Magic Kingdom:

Pirates of the Caribbean.

Mickey’s Philharmagic

Epcot:

Spaceship Earth

The Land

Hollywood Studios:

The Frozen Sing along

Animal Kingdom:
Festival of the Lion King

It’s Tough to be a Bug

Take a break at your resort to go swimming.

-The resort pools have something for everyone. You can find everything from quiet adult areas to slides and splash pads for kids and kids at heart.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

-I know, I know, it’s Disney. You spent a lot of money to be there and want to do as much as you can. However, taking things slower in the summer will make sure the heat doesn’t get the best of you.
