Johnny Depp Fans Demand Disney Apologize After Using His Face in Light Show

Johnny Depp fans have taken to Twitter to demand an apology from Disney after the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star’s face was said to have appeared during a light show at Disneyland Paris this past weekend.
Unless you live under a rock, you’re probably familiar with Captain Jack Sparrow–the infamous pirate from the international hit “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. This film series became the massive success it was thanks to Depp’s portrayal of the pirate.
Although, this series came to a smashing halt after Depp wasn’t able to reprise his role as the character in a sixth film–which is believed to be in part due to Amber Heard, Depp’s ex-wife who wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018 in which she said she had been the victim of domestic violence.
This lead to Heard and Depp’s highly talked about trial in April and May of this year where Depp accused Heard of defaming him for writing this op-ed in a suit in which he was seeking $50 million in damages.
The trial ended with Heard being ordered to pay Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. It’s worth noting the damages were reduced to $350,000 due to a Virginia law that caps them at that amount.
However, it seems this past weekend a light show was shown at Disneyland Paris which used the actor’s likeness and fans say the media corporation should apologize for using Depp’s likeness.
“Since #JohnnyDeppWon Disney needs to publicly apologize,” reads one tweet.

While another added: “@Disney a public apology would be better.”
Another tweeted: “HOW YOU USING THIS MANS NAME BUT REFUSE TO APOLOGIZE TO HIM????”
On Instagram, one comment reads: “this makes me emotional but they have to stop exploiting his image considering how they treated him.”
